New lawsuit was submitted against the new 5G auction rules

Deutsche Telekom has filed a lawsuit against the 5G auction rules, set by Germany’s communications regulator. The rules stated that any telco purchasing spectrum at its 5G auctions must also commit to meeting minimum coverage areas. Also, the companies will have to make their infrastructure available to new entrants. The reason behind these rules was to reduce the barriers for a potential fourth player to enter Germany’s mobile telecoms sector when 5G is launched.

According to the German newspaper “Die Welt”, all three of Germany’s mobile network operators have now legally objected to the ruling, which could delay the process of German 5G rollout.
