EDF Will Pay a $460,000 Fine for Missing Last Year’s Smart Meter Target

UK Energy regulator (Ofgem) is pushing Energy Suppliers to hurry up and meet installation targets every year. And when they put targets they expect the suppliers to meet them. EDF Energy was just three weeks late in meeting its 2017 smart meter installation target, and Ofgem made them pay a fine of $460,000. As of March 2018 only 11 million smart electric meters have been installed in the UK, out of 52 million target until 2020.
